Dietary fats are large molecules that need to be broken down before they can be absorbed into the body. They are broken down by enzymes called lipases. That is, lipases play an important role in the digestion of dietary fat. When taken with a meal, Xenical interferes with the activity of these enzymes. This allows about 30% of the fat eaten in the meal to pass through the gut undigested. Therefore, your body cannot store these excess calories as fatty tissue or use them as a source of energy. This helps you to reduce your weight by burning up fat that you are already carrying, maintain your lower weight and minimise any weight regain. Losing even small amounts of weight and keeping it off produces additional health benefits for you, especially when you are at risk for other diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. Xenical can also help to improve risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar. If these are not treated, they could lead to other diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Xenical should be taken in conjunction with a well-balanced calorie-controlled diet and other appropriate measures such as exercise.Active Ingredients:Xenical does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other azo dyes. Generic Product Description
A new class of medications known as lipase inhibitors, which contain a semisynthetic form of orlistat, are emerging as alternatives to traditional weight loss medications. These newer compounds work by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down dietary fat in the body, thus reducing caloric intake.
A review of Xenical's efficacy and safety in patients with obesity has found that orlistat has comparable weight loss effects to Xenical (and the comparable orlistat-like effects of orlistat). However, orlistat-like effects may be preferable in patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater, as the body's absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and minerals may be reduced by orlistat.
The review published in the
on orlistat and weight loss found no significant differences in weight loss between patients taking either orlistat-based treatment and patients on a different weight loss regimen. This suggests that orlistat is a safer alternative to traditional weight loss medications, possibly due to its longer half-life and reduced risk of gastrointestinal side effects.
A study published in
suggests that patients with obesity may benefit from orlistat in a dosage range of 10-20 mg/day, while those with an initial BMI of 30-40 kg/m2 or a BMI of 27-29 kg/m2 or a BMI of 27-29 kg/m2 are more likely to experience an increase in appetite and weight gain.
Although these data are not conclusive, there are certain points about orlistat's safety, which may have implications for the future of treatment. The current clinical practice is to use orlistat at a lower dosage to avoid adverse gastrointestinal effects. It is recommended that patients who are not well aware of orlistat's safety should discuss their weight loss concerns with a health care professional.
Orlistat has been available in the United States since 1999, but its benefits extend beyond weight loss.
Xenical, also known as Xenical, is an approved weight loss medication. In 1999, Xenical was approved by the FDA, and in 2004, the drug was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Although Xenical is not currently FDA-approved for weight loss, it is considered a safe alternative, and the FDA has not approved it for this purpose.
Xenical is an over-the-counter orlistat-based weight loss product that is used to help people lose weight. Orlistat is a prescription drug that is not FDA-approved. Xenical's mechanism of action involves inhibiting pancreatic lipase (the enzyme responsible for breaking down dietary fat in the body) and has been shown to be effective in patients with obesity, with weight loss of 10-20% of body weight over a two-year period.
This drug may also reduce the absorption of certain vitamins that are known to be associated with weight gain, such as vitamin D, B vitamin, zinc, and some nutrients. However, these supplements are not FDA-approved for weight loss in the United States.
In a study published in the
in March 2009, Xenical was compared with a placebo before and after a placebo-controlled trial. The results showed that orlistat was superior to placebo in achieving a clinically meaningful weight loss of at least 30% of body weight, as assessed by a 20-mg daily dose of Xenical.
